The German Liverpool coach, Jürgen Klopp, revealed the latest updates on the condition of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah ahead of the match against Sparta Prague. Liverpool will host Sparta Prague tomorrow, Thursday, at Anfield, in the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16, with the first leg ending in a 5-1 victory for the Reds.
Klopp said in the pre-match press conference: "Salah is ready, not to play 90 minutes, but he is ready to participate, and it is good that we no longer have to deal with this kind of situation, so we have to take care of him to return without risk."
He added: "I am ready to start him, but I'm not sure about his fitness; if he plays 90 minutes, it depends on how he performs from the start... we have to be very careful."
He concluded: "We need to make sure we can rely on him consistently again; it's not easy, as he has been out for an unusually long time."
Salah has started only one match with the Reds since the beginning of 2024 due to an injury he sustained with the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations, and he has played two matches as a substitute against Brentford and Manchester City.
