The committees of contracted teachers in primary and secondary official education confirmed, "We will fulfill our national and educational role towards the official exams." In a statement, they said: "Various rumors and statements are being issued from dark and paid rooms that have no relation to the work of the committees of contracted teachers, with the aim of disrupting the work of the contractual committees that are in continuous communication with the Minister of Education regarding the rights and demands of teachers in both secondary and primary education. The aim is also to undermine the efforts of the Minister of Education and his team in preserving the official school and the educational body, including both permanent and contracted teachers.
We assure our constant commitment to the continuation of the current academic year and our participation in monitoring, correction, and all tasks required for the completion of a sound academic year. Regarding the demands of the contracted teachers yesterday, we visited Minister of Education Abbas Halabi, who showed his willingness to double the hourly wage for contracted teachers in primary and secondary education. He is also working on including contracted teachers in the summer productivity allowance ($300).
We also requested the expedited release of the first semester dues for teachers in the border region who are working online, and we called for an increase in the wages for monitoring, correction, and committees, as this will surely serve to justly benefit the contracted teachers. We reassure the parents of the students that we, as contracted teachers, will fulfill our national and educational role towards the official exams. As for the discordant voices presenting statements from here and there, we say: the rope of lies is short."
