On Sunday, the family of one of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas received a mysterious funeral wreath, which the Shin Bet security service suspects was sent by "Iranian operatives." The parents expressed their deep shock. The wreath had an inscription that read: "Bless her memory; we all know that the homeland is the most important."
The Forum of Hostage Families and Missing Israelis condemned what it termed the "violent behavior" directed at the Elbag family, emphasizing that an investigation would be opened into the circumstances surrounding this case, led by the organization’s board in collaboration with Israeli law enforcement.
According to Israel 24 news channel, relatives of the Israeli hostage Liri Elbag received the funeral wreath mysteriously on Sunday, raising suspicions among the family members and the Shin Bet. The statement concluded that "the Forum of Hostage and Missing Families will continue to work until Liri and all other hostages are safely returned home or buried with respect."
An initial investigation by the internal security service (Shin Bet) suggested that those behind the delivery of the wreath were "most likely Iranian operatives." Israeli media reported that 19-year-old Israeli conscript Liri Elbag was abducted by Hamas on October 7 while she was working as a guard at the Nahal Oz base.
