The Lebanese Press Editors' Syndicate stated that "the Editors' Syndicate views the Israeli decision to close Al Jazeera's news offices and ban its broadcasts as indicative of the Zionist enemy's intention to commit new massacres it does not want documented by the media and presented before the eyes of a world that has condemned it before and will condemn it again." The statement added: "While the Syndicate strongly condemns and rejects the practices of the Zionist enemy, it affirms its solidarity with Al Jazeera and its colleagues working there, and will work alongside other journalists' unions to exert pressure for the swift progression of legal actions brought before the highest international judicial and legal bodies against Israel for the crimes it has committed, foremost among them the assassination of our martyr colleague Shireen Abu Akleh."
