Major General Abbas Ibrahim condemned the "terrorist attack on the Military Academy in Homs," stating in a statement: "Days refuse to pass in Syria without the Syrians stamping them with their profound suffering and signing them with their blood." He added: "The latest signature is the horrific massacre that resulted in the martyrdom of more than eighty individuals and two hundred wounded at the Syrian Military Academy in the al-Waar area of Homs." He continued: "Terrorism has no religion or geography and targets the cradle of civilizations and history, Syria, every day, but to no avail, this has been going on for more than a decade. Syrian officers used to graduate and carry out their security and national duties until they became Yusuf al-Azma, and now they graduate directly from military colleges as Yusuf al-Azma. The latest batch of heroes had their appointment with history and glory yesterday in Homs. They stood on the graduation platform and proclaimed with their blood and souls: Every land in Syria is Maysalon, and every officer is Yusuf al-Azma." He concluded: "The cradle of civilizations will never be a playground for terrorism, no matter how treacherous."
