The ministry's spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Qudah, stated that "the ministry, through the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv, is in contact with Israeli authorities to verify the accuracy of this news." Israeli media reported that two individuals were arrested after crossing from Jordan with weapons and are suspected of planning a major attack on Friday night near the settlement of Beit She'an in the Jordan Valley. The Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post" stated that "Israeli security forces have opened an investigation into the case, and they were subsequently transferred to the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) for further investigation." The newspaper noted that security forces do not yet know the affiliation of the suspects, but according to the latest estimates, a "major attack has been thwarted."
