The Algerian Ennahda Movement expressed its strong interest in President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's decision to hold early presidential elections on September 7th. The movement called for creating an appropriate atmosphere to ensure the success of these elections. In a statement signed by Secretary-General Mohamed Douibi, the party stated that it welcomed the presidency's announcement regarding the organization of early presidential elections, affirming that this falls within the powers granted to the president by the constitution.
The movement emphasized its commitment to respecting electoral timelines, especially following recent opinions hinting at delaying the presidential elections, which Ennahda strongly opposes. It noted that organizing early elections is preferable to postponing them.
Ennahda views this year as critical for significant national events, including the presidential elections, recalling the position issued by its national consultative council in its last session and praising its strong and positive presence at upcoming political milestones.
According to the same statement, the movement anticipates that the upcoming presidential elections will be an opportunity to affirm the people's will, with wide participation, to establish a state governed by law, reinforce stability, and overcome obstacles to building a strong economy, further qualifying Algeria to continue its role as a pivotal player at both regional and international levels in its honorable mission to support just causes, particularly the rights of the Palestinian people in liberating their land and the Sahrawi people in determining their destiny.
