The International Football Association (FIFA) indicated in its annual report titled "International Transfer Agents in Football," released on Thursday, that "football clubs paid a record amount of $888.1 million in service fees to player agents during 2023, an increase of 42.5 percent from the previous year." FIFA stated in its report: "English clubs were the biggest spenders by a large margin this year, with total spending exceeding $280 million." European clubs accounted for 86.6 percent of total global spending this year. It added: "The number of international transfers with an agent acting on behalf of the player reached a record level in 2023, totaling 3,353 transfer deals. This represents 15.4 percent of total transfers and an increase of 8.4 percent compared to 2022." Saudi clubs continued to spend generously this year, investing nearly $1 billion in the transfer window to attract top players from Europe, ranking second in the amount paid in commissions to player agents, totaling $86 million.
