In past years, there was a belief that placing a wet phone in rice would absorb the moisture and help the device return to its normal state. However, Apple has warned against drying wet or submerged iPhones using rice, according to the Arab Gateway for Tech News. The company advised patience when an iPhone is exposed to water, suggesting to turn off the phone, hold it, and shake it for a while with the charging port facing down to try and remove any trapped water. Then, it should be left in a well-ventilated area to dry on its own. It may take a full day for the phone to dry completely. After that, one could try plugging it into a charger and check if it responds to charging before turning it on. Additionally, a warning about liquid in the charging port may occasionally appear when trying to charge the phone or use it before it is fully dry, so it is recommended to leave it for a longer period to dry completely. However, if following these steps and waiting 24 hours does not result in the phone working, it is advisable to go to one of the company's service centers for assistance. The company also cautioned against using cotton swabs, air dryers, or external heat sources to dry the phone.
