The UAE Center for Autism organized the 17th UAE Fitness Championship for "People of Determination" today, Thursday, under the generous patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, with the slogan "I Am an Athlete" at Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club - the Grand Hall.
Over 500 male and female athletes from 55 centers and schools inclusive of People of Determination across the UAE participated in the championship, including 33 government schools, 7 private schools, 7 private centers, and 8 government centers. The fitness competitions included three games: the ball and hoop competition, the hurdle jumping and bell touching competition, and the standing long jump exercise.
The participating age groups were from 5 to 8 years (60 participants), from 8 to 12 years (136 participants), from 12 to 16 years (143 participants), from 16 to 20 years (98 participants), and above 20 years (63 participants).
In the final results across all age categories, the UAE Center for Autism secured the first place, the Bridges Center for People of Determination took the second place, and the Al Ain Autism Center - Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, finished in third place.
