Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni claimed that the Hamas attack on Israel would not have occurred if Russia had not launched its war on Ukraine, a statement that provoked the ire of Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev. Meloni made her remarks during an official visit to Ukraine coinciding with the second anniversary of the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war on Saturday, stating, “The Hamas attack on Israel would not have happened if Russia had not launched its military operation on Ukrainian territory.”
Medvedev ridiculed the Italian Prime Minister’s statements, suggesting that her comments stem from "hidden genes from her fascist past." In a post on his account on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter), he said, “The number of dumb heads in the leadership of Western countries is increasing every day. Meloni just said in Kyiv that if Russia had not launched the special military operation, Hamas would not have attacked Israel. She is already suffering from significant problems in her head,” he stated.
