The Folkloreta troupe is set to celebrate the opening ceremony of the tenth session of the Alexandria Short Film Festival today, Thursday. The festival will take place from April 25 to April 30, with the attendance of leaders from the Alexandria Governorate and the Ministry of Culture. The ceremony will be held at the Sayyid Darwish Opera House, where the troupe will perform a number of folkloric songs, presenting a mix of rural and Upper Egyptian folklore.
The "Folkloreta" troupe was founded by a group of friends united by their interest in arts and music, specifically Egyptian folklore and heritage. The troupe aims to contribute to the revival and preservation of authentic musical heritage. "Folkloreta" consists of 14 artists, most of whom are female, including 9 percussionists playing the daf and tabla, who perform collectively while also presenting some solo songs. The troupe features professional musicians skilled in traditional instruments, including a kolla player, a mazmar player, as well as keyboard and percussion players.
On another side, the management of the Alexandria Short Film Festival includes Mohamed Mahmoud as the president, Mouni Mahmoud in artistic management, and Mohamed Sadoun as the director. This cinematic celebration takes place annually, established and organized by the Circle of Art Association. It aims to promote the culture of short films and facilitate the exchange of Arab and international cultures, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Red Star, Dr. Youssef Al-Ameeri, Gulf nationals in love with Egypt, the Drosos Foundation, the Act Foundation, Misr International Films, the Alexandria Governorate, and the Syndicate of Film Professions.
