Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih announced on Wednesday that the kingdom will host two summits for Arab and Islamic nations in the coming days to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He stated at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, "You will see this week and in the coming days that Saudi Arabia will hold an emergency Arab summit in Riyadh." He added, "In a few days, you will witness Saudi Arabia holding an Islamic summit."
According to the Etemad Online news site, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will travel to Saudi Arabia on Sunday to attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit, marking the first visit of an Iranian president since Tehran and Riyadh ended years of hostility under an agreement mediated by China in March. Al-Falih also mentioned that Saudi Arabia will hold a summit with African nations, without specifying a date. He added, "In the short term, the aim of holding these three summits and other gatherings under Saudi leadership is to push for a peaceful resolution to the conflict." However, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement late Tuesday saying that the summit with African nations, which was scheduled for early next week, will be postponed to focus on the other two summits.
