Is the Mosul Dam in a Safe Condition?

The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources clarified today, Monday, the truth about the safety of the Mosul Dam, noting that it is prepared to handle any future water inflows. In a statement, the ministry said: "Some social media pages have published false news regarding the danger of the situation at the Mosul Dam, and while we condemn such false and misleading statements, we reserve our legal right to sue these pages that create panic in the Iraqi public." The statement emphasized "the safety of the Mosul Dam, confirming that it is completely secure and in its best condition, ready to receive any future water inflows, due to the significant storage capacity in its reservoir. Maintenance, excavation, and reinforcement work is ongoing around the clock by the staff of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs operating there." The statement also noted, "This has been clarified more than once officially by the ministry, and on this occasion, we urge everyone to source information from official channels and not to be swayed by rumors and false news."
