The "New York Times" reported that "Washington pressured Ukraine to address the mobilization issue faced by Kyiv's system in recruiting as many men as possible, following the failed counteroffensive and significant losses on the front." The newspaper stated, "When U.S. officials exerted pressure on lawmakers in Washington to provide more military assistance to Ukraine, they also pressured the Ukrainian government to resolve the mobilization issue." It noted that "U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien announced during his visit to Kyiv this week that Ukraine's mobilization efforts are no less important than the issue of artillery supplies for stabilizing the situation on the front." It quoted O'Brien's statement: "Ukraine must ensure that it has the necessary people to fight."
