The White House: The United States Does Not Abandon Israel

A spokesperson for the White House, John Kirby, confirmed today, Thursday, that "the United States wants to help Israel target Hamas leaders and establish an alternative governing structure," emphasizing that "the United States does not abandon Israel." The spokesperson mentioned that "discussions with Israel regarding Rafah are ongoing," stating: "An attack on Rafah will not bring Israel closer to achieving its goal of destroying Hamas." Kirby also noted that "U.S. President Joe Biden conveyed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu his repeated and direct opposition to any operation in Rafah." He viewed that "establishing a new governing structure in Gaza is a better alternative to a large-scale operation in Rafah." This comes after Biden's statement that Washington will not send weapons to Israel if it conducts a large-scale operation in southern Gaza's Rafah.
