Despite days passing since his death, it seems that the situation surrounding the famous Egyptian musician Helmy Bakar is not over. On Sunday, advisor Mortada Mansour submitted a report to Advisor Mohamed Shawky Ayad, the Attorney General, on behalf of Hisham Helmy Bakar, the late musician's son, against Samah Abdulrahman Hassan, his father's widow, and another person named Ali Al-Saadi, accusing them of causing his father's death and revealing details of the torture he suffered.
The report stated that the late Helmy Bakar had made desperate calls during several phone interviews and television appearances, claiming that his wife was physically assaulting him either herself or through a group of thugs she had hired. It was also noted that several reports were filed regarding these assaults, including one in 2019 in Al-Ajuzah.
The report asserted that the deceased had announced that his wife was holding him captive, torturing him, and extinguishing lit cigarettes on his body. It stated that the accused took the deceased out of the hospital weeks before his passing, despite his urgent need for precise medical care, and brought him to his mother-in-law's house in a village in Kafr Sakr, Sharqia, where she kept him without any medical follow-up. She also insisted on refusing to transfer him to any private or public hospital, leaving him in Sharqia while she resided in Cairo, falsely claiming that he was the one who refused hospitalization.
Additionally, she prevented him from contacting the Musicians' Syndicate or any of his family members or friends, always answering all their calls herself.
The report demanded criminal proceedings leading to a judicial investigation into the cause of death, as evidence indicates that the late Helmy Bakar did not die of natural causes, but rather his death was of a criminal nature. It revealed that a video clip exists showing the accused thug sitting atop the deceased during his illness shortly before his death.
