Egyptian star Mohamed Salah clashed with his German coach Jurgen Klopp after the latter placed him on the bench during the Liverpool vs. West Ham match on Saturday. Salah is going through a difficult period with his English club, having scored only 4 goals in his last 12 appearances across all competitions, which has led to criticism of the Egyptian star. Klopp has also benched him in some recent matches.
Television footage showed Salah engaged in a heated argument with his coach while preparing to come on against West Ham in the 79th minute of the match, before Nunez intervened to pull Salah away, who seemed upset with Klopp.
The incident between Salah and Klopp perfectly illustrates the current state of Liverpool, as the team has experienced inconsistent results in recent weeks, exiting the FA Cup and the Europa League, falling behind in title contention for the Premier League, and currently sitting third in the standings behind Manchester City and Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp revealed that the verbal clash with star Mohamed Salah ended in the locker room, before the Egyptian international stated that he would "start a fire" if he spoke about the incident. Klopp, after the match, when asked to clarify what happened, said: "I won't tell you what happened. We discussed it in the locker room, and it's done. I think it's over for Salah too."
However, the Egyptian star reignited the situation when he told the media while passing through the mixed zone: "If I speak today, I will start a fire."
