The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Molawi, revealed that the ministry is in the process of developing "a security plan for the upcoming holiday period to maintain the safety of the Lebanese people." He pointed out that "the issue of Syrian refugees is very serious and a quick solution must be found; all Lebanese are united on this matter, which Lebanon or any country in the world cannot bear." Molawi stated from Bkerke: "The Syrian issue needs a return plan and a timeline, and from today until that happens, laws must be enforced." Regarding the municipal elections, he said: "The postponement of municipal and optional elections has not yet been resolved, and postponement can only occur through legislation; the ministry is obligated to conduct elections and implement the current law." He added, "The ministry will begin tomorrow with the first phase of calling for electoral bodies, with the first governorate being Mount Lebanon."
