Tehran has vowed to respond to what it claims is an Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus on April 1, which resulted in the deaths of seven Revolutionary Guard officers, including two senior commanders. Iran indicated that its attack was in retaliation for "Israeli crimes." Israel neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the attack on the consulate.
