Japan's Foreign Minister Plans to Assure Palestinians About Aid

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa announced on Thursday that she will meet with Palestinian officials during a tour that includes Israel and Jordan, informing them of Japan's readiness to provide assistance to the Palestinians. The minister is set to meet with Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen during the two-day tour. Kamikawa expressed her hope to discuss how to respond to the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza area and to directly convey Japan's commitment to continue providing aid.

Before her departure, she mentioned being aware of the Israeli attack on the Jabalia refugee camp and the deaths of many civilians there. She added, "I understand that the Israeli army said the strike targeted Hamas militants and related infrastructure," without providing further details. Kamikawa noted that ten Japanese citizens and eight members of their Palestinian families wishing to leave Gaza have been evacuated to Egypt, indicating they are in good health. She stated that Japan will remain in contact with another citizen living in Gaza who wishes to stay there.
