High-Level Lebanese-Chinese Political Consultations in Beijing

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Ambassador Hani Shmeitly, led a Lebanese diplomatic delegation in an in-depth round of political consultations at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, with his Chinese counterpart, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li, leading a high-level Chinese delegation that included senior officials working on issues related to the West Asia region. The discussions focused on how to elevate bilateral relations to a more advanced level of cooperation in several vital areas. Emphasis was placed on the approach of strengthening and reforming state institutions to produce effective public policies, as well as pursuing a development path that serves as a lever for economic and social advancement. It is noteworthy that this round of talks comes as part of a series of high-level consultations initiated by Shmeitly for the same purpose, first with the Republic of Korea in Seoul, then with the Republic of Turkey in Ankara, and currently with the People’s Republic of China in Beijing. The Lebanese delegation included Ambassador Shmeitly, the Lebanese Ambassador to China, Miliya Jabbour, First Secretary at the Embassy Mansour Shia, and diplomats working in the central administration, Hamza Jamoul and Tanous Qabbaiti.
