Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council today regarding the situation on the Israeli-Lebanese border. According to the "Times of Israel," Katz stated in his letter that "Iran is transferring weapons to Hezbollah, which constitutes a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701." Katz claims that Iran is transporting weapons by land, air, and sea, detailing the specific components being transferred and their intended use. According to the Israeli Foreign Minister, "Weapons are being shipped from Iran to Iraq, from there to Syria, and during that phase, the weapons are transported across the border to Lebanon." He mentioned specific dates for recent arms transfer operations in his letter to the Security Council. Katz requested that the "Security Council call on the Lebanese government to also commit to implementing the Council's resolutions and take responsibility for preventing attacks from its territory against Israel, and to ensure that the area up to the Litani River is free from military presence, assets, or weapons." He emphasized that Israel has the right to do whatever is necessary under international law to protect its citizens from these violations.
