In new developments regarding the murder of the blogger Umm Fahd in the Ziyouna area of Baghdad, it was reported that the killer had been stalking the victim. One witness stated that "a motorcycle driver was seen following the victim and opened fire on her while she was in her car along with one of her friends, using a silenced pistol." Another local witness indicated that "Umm Fahd's car came to a stop, and moments later, a motorcycle driver approached and fired several gunshots, killing her and injuring her friend, who was taken to the hospital." He noted that "security forces arrived at the scene and collected forensic evidence," while calling on the security forces to put an end to such incidents that have claimed many innocent lives. Umm Fahd's brother urged the security agencies to expedite the uncovering and prosecution of the perpetrators. Another witness corroborated the earlier statements, explaining that "the killer took the victim's phone before fleeing to an unknown location." While there were reports of the killer's arrest, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior denied the news, stating in a statement: "There is no truth to the news circulating on some social media sites about the arrest of the suspect in the murder of a well-known woman on social media in the Ziyouna area of central Baghdad, and investigations are still ongoing at the beginning stages." The Ministry of Interior previously announced that it "formed a specialized working team to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder of a well-known woman on social media by unknown assailants in the Ziyouna area of Baghdad."
