## Response to the Assassination of Al-Aarouri: 62 Rockets Fired at Israeli Miron Base

The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichai Adraee, announced that "following alerts in the northern area, approximately 40 rockets were detected being fired from Lebanon towards Israel in the Meron mountain area, where no infiltration of any hostile aerial units or rockets directed at other northern areas were recorded." He added in a statement on the platform "X": "Shortly after, the Defense Army attacked a cell of militants inside Lebanon that played a role in the launch operations."

Simultaneously, the military media of "Hezbollah" declared that "as part of the preliminary response to the crime of assassinating Sheikh Saleh Al-Aarouri and his martyr brothers in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Miron air surveillance base was targeted with 62 rockets of various types, resulting in confirmed direct hits."

The party clarified that "the Miron air surveillance base is located at the peak of Mount Hermon in northern occupied Palestine, which is the highest mountain peak in occupied Palestine. The Miron base is considered the only center for air management, monitoring, and control in northern occupied territories, and there is no main alternative for it. It is one of two essential bases in the entire occupied entity: Miron in the north and the second, 'Mitzpeh Ramon,' in the south."

Israeli media indicated that "drones and rockets launched from Lebanon targeted an Israeli army intelligence site in Meron in Upper Galilee." Both Ramya and Aita Al-Shaab witnessed a series of airstrikes by Israeli warplanes.

Residents of southern regions awakened to the sound of rockets being fired from Lebanese territory towards the Upper Galilee in a new chapter of the "rules of engagement" front, which gradually evolves and slips towards a broader war. After a night of intense clashes, tensions rose in the southern areas on the morning of Saturday, January 6, 2024.

In a related context, around 32 rockets were fired from the central sector towards the Upper Galilee in northern Israel, and warning sirens sounded in various areas of Galilee, alerting to a rocket attack and an attempted infiltration by drones.
