The Interior Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia stated that "German authorities banned a pro-Palestinian group on Thursday due to its alleged support for the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas)," and police raided properties to seize devices and documents. Herbert Reul pointed out that "the Palestinian solidarity group in Duisburg has repeatedly expressed its anti-Israel and anti-Semitic worldview during meetings and via social media." He confirmed in a statement that "around 50 police officers searched properties in the northwestern state of Germany and seized laptops, cash, mobile phones, and documents." No comment was available from the Palestinian solidarity group in Duisburg. The minister added that "the group has been known to the authorities since May 2023. It organized a protest in front of the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall against the supply of weapons to Israel, which is fighting Hamas in Gaza."
