The "Strong Lebanon" bloc held its regular meeting chaired by MP Gebran Bassil, welcoming "any genuine dialogue strictly related to the presidential election, provided that agreements are clearly made on its duration, location, subject, and format, and that it concludes with the election of a president of the republic, either through prior agreement on the name and vision or through open sessions with a single record until the election takes place."
The bloc emphasized "the importance of the administrative decentralization and the trust fund projects, as their achievement represents a qualitative reform leap in the Lebanese system and in economic and financial solutions, and supports any dialogue that contributes to their realization. Decentralization enables development in the regions and transparency in spending, while the fund protects state properties and assets from sale, opens the door for investment in them, raises their value, increases revenues, and contributes to revitalizing the economy and partially compensating depositors who lost their deposits in banks."
The bloc called on "the caretaker government to adopt seriousness and practical measures regarding the displaced issue, going directly to the core of the matter by making the necessary political decision to prevent the flow of displaced persons and ensure the return of fictitious displaced individuals, and by enforcing the applicable laws against illegal entrants or economic refugees whose situations are considered irregular, in addition to the necessity of being strict in closing the borders against human trafficking perpetrated by border smugglers."
The bloc urged "the military and security agencies to assume their responsibilities and activate their work within the current human resources, without resorting to unconvincing excuses, because security is, above all, a matter of prestige, and requires serious deterrent measures at the borders, not merely the deployment of forty thousand soldiers at the borders, but rather a comprehensive military plan based on existing towers, intelligence gathering, dismantling smuggling networks, punishing violators, and conducting mobile patrols on land and in the air."
