Sheikh Samy Aby al-Mouna, the leader of the Druze community, confirmed during his meeting with French Ambassador Hervé Magro at the community's headquarters in Beirut the "importance of the historical relations between the two countries and ways to develop them." However, he questioned the "French positions, in particular, and the European positions in general, which are biased in favor of Israel in its war against Gaza and the Palestinians, using banned weapons and violating international treaties and laws in a blatant challenge to humanity." He emphasized that "we hope that the West will be just and work to stop the ongoing war machine, fire, destruction, and displacement, along with all the countries supporting peace, so that our region and the world can live in safety and stability."
Additionally, Aby al-Mouna praised the position of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who calls for an "immediate ceasefire and allowing humanitarian aid to reach the suffering areas in Gaza."
On another note, the Sheikh visited the Al-Ma'ani school in Beirut, affiliated with the Druze endowments, after its renovation, congratulating the new administration on the start of the academic year. Following a tour of the school's classrooms and the adjacent heritage building, which will be restored to become a cultural heritage landmark, Sheikh Abu al-Mouna addressed the attendees with a spontaneous speech praising the efforts made to achieve this accomplishment and the longstanding educational role of the Ma'ani school. He expressed hope that the new administration would preserve and develop it, stating, "By educating the young children, we protect the family and uphold values—that is our message and your role." He expressed hope to "visit Ma'ani later to congratulate them on successes and the opening of the historic heritage building."
