Lebanese army units, in collaboration with the firefighting brigade of the Union of Municipalities of the Tyre District, are continuing their efforts to extinguish the fire that broke out today in the area between the towns of Roumiyeh and Houmineh Tahta. The flames have spread to cover the forests surrounding the towns of Arki, Bani Afoul, Khazzar, Janglayah, and the outskirts of Qunaytra. The Civil Defense forces from all their centers in the Nabatiyeh and Tyre District areas, along with the Islamic Scout Movement and the Islamic Health Authority, are also participating in the extensive firefighting operations. A large group of residents from the towns have brought water tankers and agricultural tractors to contribute to the firefighting efforts, which have ravaged vast areas of ancient mulberry and oak trees and olive groves, as well as threatening residential neighborhoods in many towns.
Dozens of fire trucks are working around the outskirts of the towns, although some units are facing difficulties in firefighting due to the rough terrain and valleys that the flames have spread into. Additionally, hundreds of soldiers from the army are trying to encircle the fire near some residential areas, while other firefighting teams are coordinating their efforts to attempt to regain control of the blaze.
In a related context, the Civil Defense forces extinguished a series of fires today in several towns in Akkar, including Al-Aboudiyeh, the outskirts of the town of Shadra, and the towns of Al-Qurayat, Babbine, Harar, Al-Barbara, and Khirbat Daoud. The Civil Defense personnel rushed to the fire sites with firefighting vehicles and worked to encircle the flames and cool down the affected areas.
