The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, emphasized during his meeting with Canadian Ambassador Stephanie MacLellan the "importance of establishing a timeline to resolve the current crisis in the region by adhering to the political solution outlined by international resolutions over seven decades ago, aiming for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state." The discussion also addressed "the latest developments regarding the displacement crisis, its implications, and the necessity of separating any political solution from the issue of the return of Syrian refugees to their country, in addition to the need to launch early recovery projects in Syria to support this return."
Bou Habib received the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea, Il Park, who delivered an invitation to a conference on "Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in Military Technology" scheduled to be held in Seoul next September. Bou Habib highlighted "the importance of the role played by Security Council members, including South Korea, in achieving a ceasefire and peace in the region."
Additionally, he met with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross mission in Lebanon, Simone Casabianca Ischleman, who informed him about the mission's activities and its work in Lebanon, as well as the emergency preparedness and response plan for the south. Bou Habib and the head of the mission also discussed "the impact of recent developments on the humanitarian situation in Lebanon."
On another note, Bou Habib received a call from Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, where they discussed key issues of mutual interest during this phase, particularly ways to enhance bilateral cooperation at the United Nations.
