Drug Smuggling Attempt Foiled at Daher al-Baidar Checkpoint

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division reported that "on February 29, 2024, on the Baalbek-Beirut road, two individuals in a passenger van disembarked and fled before reaching the Daher al-Baidar checkpoint. Immediately, the officers pursued them and managed to apprehend one identified as B. A. (born in 1999, Syrian). A bag was found in his possession, which, upon inspection, contained approximately 1.3 kg of narcotics, including: 150 plastic containers containing cocaine base, 55 plastic containers of various sizes with cocaine, 16 bags of marijuana, 15 bags containing hashish, and 6 bags with cocaine. The detainee, along with the seized items, was transferred to the Daher al-Baidar police station for legal proceedings based on the directives of the competent judiciary."
