Will Lebanon Enter Total Chaos?

A diplomatic source confirmed to "Al-Anba" that the recent quintet statement clarified important points and serves as a warning to Lebanese political forces to cooperate in electing a president of the republic and to establish a clear framework for accomplishing the assigned task, based on the principle: "Did I not deliver the message?" The source noted that if the concerned political parties do not heed the message from the Arab and international-backed quintet regarding the presidential election, Lebanon will become exposed on all levels and will fall into complete chaos. The source also expressed concern over a potential expansive Israeli aggression against Lebanon if the quintet's mission, which has given itself additional time to accomplish the presidential election that can no longer be delayed in light of the rapid regional developments, especially in Gaza, fails. It was hoped that the parliamentary meeting regarding the Syrian displacement file and the recommendation to the government on this matter would coincide with another recommendation to set a timeline for electing a president, as this would save Lebanon from further fragmentation and division in a political process that is a top priority, through which most crises could be resolved, according to "Al-Anba" Kuwait.
