Just hours after French President Emmanuel Macron's discussions with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Army Commander Joseph Aoun, both separately and jointly, the notable event yesterday was the revelation that Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received an invitation from the French President to visit France. It is believed that the invitation was made via a phone call, along with informing Berri that personal envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian would continue efforts to find a solution for the presidential elections in Lebanon, in coordination with Lebanon's international partners, and in collaboration with civil society and Lebanese officials. It remains unclear whether Berri will accept the invitation to visit the Élysée or if current concerns will delay his response to the invitation, including setting a date for the visit if it is decided to take place.
