Assad Discusses Counterterrorism with Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces Chief

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met in Damascus with Faleh al-Fayad, the head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of counterterrorism and effective coordination to secure the borders. The two sides addressed the pursuit of extremist organizations and their remnants that seek to threaten the security of Syria and Iraq. Assad stressed that terrorism, which relies on killing and bloodshed, is the same everywhere in the world. He affirmed that the supporters of terrorism in Syria and Iraq are the same as those supporting it in other places, regardless of the different names of those terrorist organizations. The Syrian president praised the resilience and strength of the Syrian and Iraqi armies, which have been fundamental in achieving successive victories against terrorists and their supporters.
