The Central Election Commission of Russia announced today, Monday, that Vladimir Putin won the presidential elections with 87 percent of the votes. The head of the Russian Election Commission stated that "the turnout in the presidential elections reached a record number in modern Russian history, with 77.44 percent, where more than 87.1 million citizens voted." After processing 99.7 percent of the votes in the Russian presidential elections nationwide, independent candidate Vladimir Putin leads with 87.3 percent, followed by Nikolai Kharitonov with 4.3 percent, Vladislav Davankov with 3.83 percent, and Leonid Slutsky with 3.21 percent, according to the Central Election Commission.
It was noted that "after counting all the votes, Putin received 85.13 percent in the capital Moscow, 82.10 percent in Sverdlovsk Oblast, 88 percent in Volgograd Oblast, and 93.6 percent in Crimea." It revealed that "Davankov received 6.65 percent, Kharitonov 3.84 percent, and Slutsky 2.83 percent after all votes were counted in the capital Moscow." The polling stations for the presidential elections across Russia closed last night, Sunday, and members of the Russian Election Commission began counting the votes at all centers and sending them to the capital, Moscow.
