Saudi Ambassador to Beirut, Walid Bukhari, hosted a dinner titled "Sustainable Diplomacy" this Thursday evening, attended by more than 50 heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations operating in Lebanon. Among those present was Ali Daghman, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Syrian Embassy, attracting media attention amid expectations that the event would provide an opportunity to discuss the Lebanese presidential file.
### Greeting and Embrace
Notable at the long-awaited dinner was the warm embrace and reception of Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani. His presence drew interest from the media and political circles, as seen on social media. Following the dinner, Ambassador Amani expressed his appreciation and respect for Ambassador Bukhari for the invitation. He tweeted, "We are optimistic about the ongoing developments and hope that the atmosphere of reconciliation and meeting will soon envelop the relationships between all countries in the region, for the good and welfare of our nation and peoples."
### Bukhari's Hospitality
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdullah Bou Habib also accepted the invitation to the dinner, emphasizing that "the relationship between Lebanon and the Kingdom is deep-rooted and historic." He referenced the early 20th century writer and thinker Ameen Rihani, who described the role and character of the late King Abdulaziz bin Saud, founder of the Kingdom, as reflecting a timeless Saudi nature. Bou Habib continued, quoting Rihani: "I have met all the Arab princes, and I found none greater than this man. I am not exaggerating: he is indeed great, great in his handshake, smile, words, and gaze. He expresses his thoughts in the first session, fearing no one, but rather shares his secrets... He is truly the crowned jewel. No matter what is said about Ibn Saud, he is, above all, a man. A man of great heart, spirit, and sentiment. An Arab... his virtues have manifested."
