Al-Safadi and Abdullahian Discuss Efforts to Resolve the Syrian Crisis

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian in New York to discuss several issues, notably the Syrian crisis and the efforts to resolve it based on a "step-by-step" methodology. According to the "Ammon" news agency, the two officials discussed, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, bilateral and regional issues, especially the Palestinian cause, the Syrian crisis, and Arab and international efforts to resolve it in line with Security Council Resolution 2254, while preserving the unity, cohesion, security, and stability of Syria, as well as meeting the rights and aspirations of the Syrian people.

Al-Safadi emphasized the necessity of stopping the threats posed by the crisis to the security of Jordan and the region, particularly the danger of drug trafficking, asserting that Jordan will continue to take all necessary steps to combat it. He also affirmed Jordan's commitment to ending all tensions in the region and developing relations with Iran based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and non-interference in internal affairs, highlighting the importance of the security dialogue that the two countries have initiated to achieve this.
