Ukrainian National Guard Chief Oleksandr Pivnenko stated on Tuesday that "Russian forces will bomb unexpected sectors of the front when they launch a massive attack on Ukrainian territory this summer and may attempt to advance towards the city of Kharkiv in the northeast." He added that Ukraine's second-largest city has been targeted by missile and drone strikes in recent weeks, but Ukrainian forces will be prepared to thwart any attack. Pivnenko told the Ukrainian news site (Liga.net): "We are making our preparations. Yes, the enemy will surprise us with things we do not want. They will operate in areas we do not expect. But they will not achieve their goal." While Russia is slowly advancing in the east, Ukraine is awaiting U.S. military aid, which is expected to be finally approved this week and arrive soon, alleviating the acute shortage of ammunition and Ukrainian air defense capabilities.
