The Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced today, Thursday, that the Directorate of Intelligence and Security has apprehended four antiquities and arms traders, along with another wanted individual for terrorism in Babil province. According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, "as part of a series of qualitative operations carried out by the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security against organized crime strongholds, its detachments in Babil managed to capture three antiquities traders who were in possession of an artifact they intended to sell in Babil province."
The statement noted that "the arrests came following a carefully laid trap by the Directorate's detachments, catching the suspects in the act." It added that "detachments from the Directorate of Intelligence and Security stationed at the entrances to Babil province arrested one individual wanted by the judiciary on terrorism charges, for whom an arrest warrant had been issued under Article (4/Terrorism), and legal proceedings were initiated against him, referring him to the judiciary."
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that "the Directorate's detachments arrested one arms and ammunition trader in Babil province, who was found in possession of various light weapons, which were confiscated, and the suspect was referred for investigation."
