The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hussein Salami, stated today, Thursday, that the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation carried out by the Qassam Brigades on October 7th was "a completely Palestinian operation," and it was not a revenge act for the former commander of the Quds Force, General Qassem Soleimani. Salami made these statements during a speech to Iranian crowds in Tehran at the funeral of Brigadier General Razi Mousavi, one of the prominent leaders of the Guard, who was assassinated by Israeli forces last Monday in Syria.
Salami added that the spokesperson for the Guard, Brigadier General Ramadan Sharif, informed him that he meant the results of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation represented revenge for the blood of General Soleimani, who was assassinated by Washington in an airstrike in Baghdad at the beginning of 2020. He emphasized that the Palestinian resistance has become strong, with Hamas and Jihad producing weapons in Gaza, and every martyr carries his weapon for many others, asserting that this resistance will not end.
He continued: "We are sincere in our actions, and we are a capable state. When we shot down a US drone in 2019, we announced it, and we showed that when we captured US military personnel in 2016 in the Gulf, in addition to targeting the Ain al-Asad base in Iraq in 2020, and the Zionist hideout in Erbil."
The spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Brigadier General Ramadan Sharif, denied yesterday, Wednesday, the veracity of statements attributed to him that the motive for the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation was revenge for the assassination of the former commander of the Iranian Quds Force, stressing that he was "misunderstood." Sharif confirmed that his statements during the conference "were conveyed incompletely and misunderstood," adding: "I did not suggest that the motive for 'Al-Aqsa Flood' was revenge for the blood of General Soleimani," indicating that he stated that one of the results of "Al-Aqsa Flood" was revenge for him.
