MP Taha Nagy: Lebanon Will Not Fall into the Israeli Trap

Today, Tuesday, Speaker of the House Nabih Berri received a large delegation from the "National Accord" bloc at the second presidential headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, which included MPs: Faisal Karami, Taha Nagy, Adnan Trabulsi, and Mohammed Yahya, along with Karami’s political advisor and office manager Alaa Jalilati, Othman Majdoub, and the political official at the Projects Association, Dr. Ahmad Dabbagh.

After the meeting, MP Taha Nagy stated: "We, as the National Accord Bloc, visited President Nabih Berri today, and as is the case every time, it was an opportunity to discuss the developments in the Lebanese reality and the repercussions of the significant event concerning the war in Gaza and in occupied Palestine and southern Lebanon. We sensed from President Berri a reassurance that Lebanon will not fall into the Israeli trap that aims to drag us into a comprehensive war, and at the same time, he is fully confident in the wisdom of the resistance and the awareness of its leadership in Lebanon with respect to all these traps."

Nagy added: "President Berri affirms that Israel, which has committed the first strategic mistake in its aggression on Gaza, if it attacks Lebanon, it will be committing a fatal strategic error."

He continued: "Here we say that the United States, the West, and the international community must prove that they are sincere when they say they do not want the war to expand and spread. On this occasion, we also want to salute South Africa for its wonderful stance that expresses the Arab sentiment from the ocean to the Gulf, and the decision that will come from the Hague court will be historic; either international justice through the International Court proves that we are living under a just international system, or it reveals to the whole world that we live in the age of the law of the jungle."

Nagy concluded: "Regarding the internal Lebanese situation, President Berri remains adamant that the Lebanese will eventually reach the minimum required for national unity to save this country, and everyone must bear the responsibility."

Berri also received the Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Defense Zina Aakar, where they discussed the general situation and political developments. In the afternoon, President Berri welcomed American Ambassador Lisa Johnson in a protocol visit on the occasion of her assuming new duties as her country’s ambassador to Lebanon, during which they reviewed the general situation, political developments, and field updates following Israel's ongoing aggression against Lebanon and Gaza.
