US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Robert Wood, stated on Wednesday that "Israel needs to do more to protect innocent Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and that more needs to be done to ensure humanitarian aid reaches the area and is distributed safely." Wood said before the United Nations Security Council: "The continued significant harm to civilians resulting from incidents like the airstrikes on Sunday undermines Israel's strategic goals in Gaza."
