The Political Bureau of the Kataeb Party, which convened under the presidency of MP Samy Gemayel, criticized the collusion surrounding the case of the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, which undermines international agreements. The bureau expressed regret over "Hezbollah’s control over the country, particularly regarding essential decisions." It called for the restoration of Lebanon on the world and regional map, urging against its isolation to avoid collapse, emphasizing that the Lebanese should have a "parliament that reflects their aspirations expressed at the ballot boxes, which delegated the MPs to ensure that their country is free, sovereign, and liberated from any guardianship, where justice prevails and where it thrives with the return of its youth."
It added: "The Kataeb Party believes that pursuing Salameh before the judiciary makes his continued position unacceptable and necessitates his resignation; otherwise, it would represent a new insult to the Lebanese people who were the first victims of the financial crimes committed in collusion with influential figures, which were the main reason for squandering their lifetime savings and their livelihoods."
The Political Bureau urged Lebanese judicial authorities to "assume their responsibilities, comply with the laws immediately, and stop obstructing the course of justice."
