The Lebanese Basketball Federation has finalized the contract with Serbian coach Miodrag Perisic to lead the Lebanese men's national team, succeeding coach Jad Haj, who has transitioned to coach Bahrain's national team. Perisic, who coached the Tunisian team Monastir and helped them win the league and cup titles in Tunisia as well as the African Championship in 2022, has previously worked in Lebanon with clubs such as Beirut (2018-2020), Byblos (2017-2018), Al-Tadamun Zouk (2015-2017), and Anibal Zahle (2011-2012).
Born in 1972, Perisic has also coached Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Al-Ittihad, as well as Bahrain's Al-Munakhah, and teams in Romania including Avala Ada, Nova Pazova, Cluj Napoca, Otopeni, and Sibiu. Lebanon is preparing for an important event on July 2, when they will face Angola and Spain in Valencia, Spain, in the qualifying rounds for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
