The Israeli army stated on Sunday evening that its forces raided a "training facility" belonging to Hamas, where the group's members prepared and trained for the October 7 attack. According to the Israeli army's statement, the facility located in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, contained models of Israeli military bases, armored vehicles, and entry points to kibbutzim (Israeli rural communities). The Israeli army released a video of the compound.
Additionally, the Israeli army confirmed that its soldiers also raided the office of Mohammed al-Sinwar, a senior leader in Hamas's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. He is also the brother of Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas's political bureau in Gaza, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack.
The army reported that during the raid on the Qudsia compound in Khan Younis, the forces encountered a number of "gunmen" who opened fire. It continued that they were "neutralized" by sniper fire, tank shelling, and airstrikes.
According to the Israeli army's statement: "A machine for manufacturing weaponry and underground infrastructure was found in the area, along with a large quantity of weaponry that included anti-tank missiles, RPGs, FN MAG machine guns, roadside bombs, hand grenades, and more."
