Sudanese Foreign Ministry: "Addis Ababa" Declaration Paves the Way for Division of the Country

Sudanese Foreign Ministry:

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Sunday that the signing of an agreement by Rapid Support Forces Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo "Hemedti" with a supportive "political group" could pave the way for the division of the country. The Sudanese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the commitment of the Rapid Support Forces to the Jeddah Declaration and the evacuation of citizens' homes is a prerequisite for starting new negotiations. The ministry also confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces are besieging entire residential areas in Khartoum. Last Tuesday, the Rapid Support Forces and the Civil Democratic Forces Coordinating Body (Taqaddum) announced the signing of the "Addis Ababa" declaration aimed at ending the war in the country. According to the declaration, the Rapid Support Forces are ready to halt hostilities immediately and unconditionally through direct negotiations with the Sudanese army. The parties to the "Addis Ababa" declaration also stressed that sustainable peace in Sudan must be based on putting an end to multiple armies and forming a single professional army that represents everyone. Burhan stated in a video message broadcast by the Sovereign Council on Telegram that the Rapid Support Forces have committed "war crimes," and that the army's approach to them "will be on the ground." He also accused the Rapid Support Forces of wanting to destroy Sudan and attacking areas where the army is not present, consisting only of civilian residents, expressing regret that "some politicians applaud Hemedti after all he has done in terms of killing."
