The "Strong Lebanon" bloc refused, in a statement following its regular meeting chaired by MP Gebran Bassil, to be a spectator to the systematic destruction of national partnership in the charter and constitution, and to the fatal vacancy in the presidency after the resigned government and those in charge of it crossed all red lines by appointing a first-class employee in the absence of a president and without a proposal or signature from the minister on the decree.
It affirmed that it will take every possible action at the media, political, party, popular, and judicial levels to stop such decisions and appeal them before the State Council, as well as to submit an indictment to the Parliament against the Prime Minister, who made the appointment proposal, calling on "the dissenting MPs against any violation of the constitution to join in signing this indictment."
The bloc, which is entrusted with the rights, role, and message of those it represents, announced its willingness to make any positive effort toward electing a president through consensus and is prepared to undertake or respond to any dialogue initiative leading to this consensus. It also stated that it would take any action to stop the ongoing violations of the charter and constitution and the absence of the president, keeping all options open, and reminding that the essential condition for national unity is national partnership.
It commemorated "the memory of the martyrdom of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and his companions," emphasizing that "Lebanon cannot thrive by isolating any component but rather on balanced partnership among the components."
