The leader of the Lebanese Kataeb Party, MP Samy Gemayel, emphasized the need to expedite the establishment of Qleiat Airport – Rene Mouawad, stating that "the support for its creation and advancing the project as quickly as possible is necessary for the benefit of the people of Akkar and the jurd, just like Halat Airport, which will be important for the coastal residents. This will help reduce congestion at Beirut Airport and contribute to establishing true decentralization." He expressed confidence that the National Moderation Bloc would support Halat Airport.
During a meeting with a delegation from the National Moderation Bloc, he addressed the presidential file, mentioning that "an in-depth discussion on the matter reaffirmed the Kataeb's position regarding the necessity of creating real balance in the country, which is the essential path to achieving genuine partnership among the Lebanese." He pointed out that "Lebanon is facing an unconstitutional situation and a non-institutional reality, with democratic processes violated and constitutional deadlines and norms disregarded, along with the neutrality of the presidency in managing the file by not calling for sessions to elect a president."
For his part, MP Al-Badrini spoke after the meeting, stating that "opening Qleiat Airport has become a national demand alongside other airports." Regarding the presidential crisis, he affirmed "the effort to reach a common ground with parliamentary blocs," adding that "a certain party must extend its hand to save the country and exit the predicament while ensuring regular institutional work, especially with the existential threat posed by Syrian displacement." In response to a question, Al-Badrini confirmed that "the bloc will vote for a name in the upcoming session to elect a president."
