John-Marie Le Pen Placed Under Guardianship of His Daughters Due to Health Decline

John-Marie Le Pen, the 95-year-old founder of the far-right National Front party in France, has been placed under the guardianship of his three daughters due to a decline in his health, according to The Times. Legal guardianship has been granted to Marie-Caroline, Yann, and Marine, distancing him from the prospect of trial set for September regarding alleged fraud by the "Front." Marine Le Pen (55), who became the party leader in 2011 after her father ran for president five times, will be tried along with him and twenty other party officials for allegedly diverting millions of euros from European Parliament funds to finance the party. The outcome of the trial could affect her plans to run for the presidency for the fourth time in the 2027 elections. His health has deteriorated since he underwent heart surgery a year ago. Louis Aliot, the deputy leader of the party, expects the court to excuse Le Pen from appearing due to his health, stating, "He is an elderly and tired man." After her father was expelled from the party in 2015 and she distanced herself from his past, Marine Le Pen has rebuilt family ties, attending family gatherings with him and his wife Jany at their home in the Hauts-de-Seine region in the suburbs of Paris. Their mother, Pierrette Le Pen, Le Pen's first wife, lives in an apartment in the family mansion located in nearby Montretout.
