The Pakistani police issued an order today, Friday, banning gatherings in anticipation of supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan flocking to the capital, Islamabad, as he appears in court.
In this context, the "Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf" party pointed out that "thousands of peaceful Pakistanis will gather in Islamabad in solidarity with their leader Khan."
Khan is scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court in Islamabad at 11 AM to consider an appeal he filed against his arrest stemming from allegations of corruption, following an order from the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court ruled yesterday, Thursday, that his arrest was "void and unlawful." Khan's arrest earlier this week provoked violent unrest at a time when the country is grappling with a severe economic crisis.
